The Gift of the Magi

The Gift of the Magi:

"One dollar and eighty-seven cents. That was all. And sixty cents of it was in pennies... Pennies saved one and two at a time by bulldozing the grocer and the vegetable man and the butcher until one's cheeks burned with the silent imputation of parsimony that such close dealing implied. Three times Della counted it. One dollar and eighty- seven cents. And the next day would be Christmas. "

O.Henry's classic Christmas tale...
Another short story for your holiday reading pleasure...

see you later

Freakonomics Radio: Do More Expensive Wines Taste Better? - NYTimes.com:

"Freakonomics Radio: Do More Expensive Wines Taste Better?"

This I thought would interest Mathieu... but also the rest of you too.

Tomorrow is our last class of the year! Maybe you want to bring something to nibble on and/or drink.

Instead of a test you all preferred to sing in class tomorrow, but you might want to review your vocabulary anyway! (You never know!)

Enjoy listening to the podcast!

see you anon

Dark Sky

Do you want to see stars ?
Yes, I think that you would like too but with all the light pollution, it's very difficult to see a lot of them.

On this website though, you can have a look at one of the darkest skies in the world.
The photos were taken in the desert of Atacama in Chile, during a night without moon and without the Milky Way.

I hope that you will appreciate this beautiful sky.

A new great search engine: Qwiki.

Hello everyone !

I hope that you are enjoying your week-end but if you don't know what to do, I have a little something to show you. It's a new search engine, like google or Bing, except that the results are presented in an interactive video.
The name of this is Qwiki, I think it's a reference to Wkipedia and to the adjective quick because you can really access to the information really fast.

Follow this link to take a look at Qwiki. I especially recommend you to take a look at the video on the main page.

For now it's still an alpha version, that is to say that everybody can't access to all the features and there could be some bugs, but you can join the alpha and the get an acces to more functionalities. For example once you are accepted, you can type our own search.
I also have some invitations, so if you are interested, leave a comment and I will send you an invite.
I tried it on several subject like Paris, Lille, Pulp Fiction, Leonardo Da Vinci ... and the result is always amazing.

I hope that you'll enjoy it.

Vincent.
